“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

-Romans 8:28 NIV

If we are honest, we’ve all wrestled with the question: If God is good then why did he let ___________ happen?  Why would an all powerful, all loving, merciful  God allow ________ occur?

For some of us, the blanks might represent the loss of a high paying job or a relationship implosion. Or, maybe they are something indescribably difficult. Whatever the blanks represent we need to remember: Life is hard, but God is good!  Since the very beginning of time, God’s Word affirms one does not cancel out the other. In other words, hard times don’t cancel out God’s goodness.  God wants us to be sure when are confronted with hard times He is right there in the middle. That’s why we need to eliminate the word  “if” from our vocabularies and choose to believe:  God is good no matter what we are facing.

Heavenly Father, help us to remember that you are FOR us and that your goodness is evident everywhere. Today even though we might stumble or momentarily lose our way, help us never to lose sight of who you are and what you have done for us. We give our hearts to you in Jesus name, Amen.
