DAY ELEVEN: DECISIVE STEPS

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

-Hebrews 4:12 NIV

DEVOTION:

When it comes to making a decision, the best answers always happen when we seek God.  The old hymn “ What A Friend We Have in Jesus” is a timeless reminder that the first step for all of us when making any decision should be prayer.  One line in the song says, “ What a privilege to carry everything to the Lord in prayer.”  But there is another step that God uses to lead us when making the right decisions. This step is looking for the answer in His word.  This morning on the eleventh day of this 21-day journey, what would it look like if we opened our Bibles and asked God to speak directly to us and our situations. What if we dove deeper into a particular verse and asked Him to show us the way.   What if we asked God to make His word alive and active in our hearts and our lives. Today, Let’s become doers of His word when it comes to making decisions by praying it, reading it, and living it.

PRAYER:

God,  humble our spirit and open our eyes and ears to what you are saying to us in your word. Help us to say no to the worlds way,  and yes to yours. Help us to remain faithful so that one day when we stand before you in heaven, we can hear you say the words, “Well done good and faithful servant."
