DAY ONE: A NEW PLACE

Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob.  Look on our shield, Oh God; look with favor on your anointed one Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere;I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

-Psalm 84:5-10

Devotion:

The next 21 days are about something more than just praying together or giving up something. They are more than a quest for us to get something we want or need from, God.  They are not just about us going without food or fighting our battles together.  Yes, all of those things will be a part of this season, but there is something more.   The next 21 days are about us going on a journey together.  A spiritual journey.  A trip together that is going to give God the room he needs to do something supernatural in our lives as individuals and as a church.  This is going to be an experience that promises to take us to new destinations physically and spiritually.  The writer of Psalm 84 called it a pilgrimage, and he reminds us not only will it be a trip that is joyous and blessed, but we will not be taking it alone.  Our Heavenly Father is inviting us to follow Him on this excursion to new places, opportunities and to know His glory and goodness in a new and more profound way.  The next 21 days will be the kind of pilgrimage that will lead to permanent life change, and each step promises to be filled with excitement about what God is going to do.

Prayer:

God, Help us to remember our strength is in you on this journey…on this trip…on this pilgrimage together as a church.  While we pray together and stand together, take us to a place of profound life change and do something supernatural in us as individuals and  a church.  We are filled with gratitude for who you are and what you have done for us, and excited about what is yet to come.
